Andrew Ault

Staff Spotlight

Mr. Ault is a history teacher at RHS. He recently relocated from West Virginia, where he taught music for 10 years. He is married with one child and is a huge Pittsburgh Steelers fan. In addition to being a valuable member of his department, he is an asset to his students. Mr. Ault has a reliable talent for making complex historical concepts accessible to all learners. Mr. Ault teaches in a way that makes his content come alive. He is focused on student learning and providing opportunities for student success. One of his students even commented, “He is very serious about his job and cares about our growth.” Thank you Mr. Ault for all you do for our students at Riverdale.


Student Spotlight

Jayden is a great student. He is never afraid to ask questions or seek guidance when he may not know the answer. He is very inquisitive and likes to learn which is an admirable quality that will benefit him greatly in the future. Jayden is also a member of the Riverdale football team. According to his teammates, he is a quiet but good teammate.

Governor’s School

Governor's School applications are live. These (mostly) free summer programs take place at a variety of campuses throughout the state. Programs are competitive and often require resumes, letters or recommendation, and even auditions in order to participate. There are a variety of programs to fit your interests and future majors.

Applications for GS for the Arts need to be completed and turned into Mr. Truax before November 18th. All other applications will need to be submitted before December 9th. You can reach him at truaxj@rcschools.net.

Summer Travel opportunities

Passport

We have a trip planned for Greece in June of 2024. This trip is open to members of the Riverdale Honors College and those students that who will be rising juniors and seniors or recent graduates at the time of travel. Families are also welcome. All trips are planned through EF Tours, a reputable travel partner used by schools nationwide, including many in Rutherford County. There are still spots available. Clear Bag Policy

Clear bags are now required for all athletic events per RCS school policy.


We have RHS clear bags for sale. We have a crossbody, a tote, and a fanny pack.


You can purchase these online with SchoolCash or you can see Coach King in the Annex. Also, we will have them for sale at the football gate for each home game.


All bags are $15.00.

The Rutherford County All-County Honor Choir held its concert on Monday, October 29, 2023. It was an incredible musical evening where students from all of the Rutherford County High Schools performed music that they just received one day prior. What an amazing experience! Congratulations to: Lexi Sells, Grace Sanders, Jazmin Enriquez-Cruz, Hayleigh Mitchell, Abigail Wilder, Jami Hiatt, Sierra Risinger, Sahara Rose, Elexis Thepthongsay, Michelle Smith, Kara Folken, and Brichelle Potts on such a memorable evening!

Visual Art Happenings:


The Art Club and National Art Honor Society have begun their Mural Series project! We started our first mural on G-hall last week and will continue working on the next mural soon. We hope the murals help brighten the halls and boost school spirit!



Mrs. Fehrenbacher's Faculty/Staff pottery class also started last week! Participants began their Christmas tree luminaries and they are looking fantastic!

Faculty, staff, and plus-ones are welcome at these pottery classes! Make sure you look out for sign-ups for the spring class!

JROTC News

The RHS JROTC Raider team competed at the LTC “Tony” Cornelius Raider Challenge at Spring Hill High School. They competed with JROTC programs from all over Tennessee and Kentucky. These programs represented the Army, Navy, and Air Force JROTC. Our Warrior Battalion brought home 8 trophies on Saturday with our COED team placing first overall. This was a great way for our team to finish our season.

Southern Fried Funeral is the next production from the Riverdale Theater Department. The show will run 11/16-11/19 with a double case. It is directed by Matt Smith and Lilian Douglas is the Stage Manager.

Our students competed in multiple competitions today, and received the following awards:

1st Place in Standard Field Sobriety Testing

1st Place in Crime Scene Investigation

3rd Place in Fingerprinting

3rd Place in QuizBowl

2ND PLACE OVERALL!!

Mrs. Clines Family Studies class and Mrs. Louden's Nutrition classes took a field trip to MTSU on 10/27/2023. They toured the Human Sciences department where Professors and employees explained different majors and how to apply. Several students won MTSU prizes. Students toured the Nutrition Science kitchen lab. Then groups toured the fermentation lab as well as the Creamery. Students enjoyed lunch at McCallie dining hall. Lastly, students were taken on a campus tour ending up at the Student Union building. Students enjoyed the trip, and several will be going into this field at MTSU.

Halloween Costume Contest

Our teachers participated in a Halloween costume contest this week. Teachers had to work with partners or groups to create a costume theme. We had many great entries. The winners of the contest were Mary Ellen Smith, Matt Smith, EJ Proctor, and Kenneth Honeycutt for their Golden Girls theme.

Graduation cap and gown orders must be in by November 15. Please note that the gown colors are changing this year and you will not be able to use one from a previous graduation. Use the QR code below to place your orders.


If your student receives free/reduced lunch, they may be eligible for a free or reduced cost cap and gown. Please use this QR code to submit your application.

Senior Information

The tentative date for graduation is Friday May 17, at 7:00 p.m. Graduation will be held at MTSU’s Murphy Center.

You've all been patiently waiting and now it's time for you to submit your senior quote for the 2024 yearbook!

  • You can only submit one quote - this needs to be done through your school email.
  • Your quote needs to be school appropriate, clean, and non-offensive.
  • All quotes are vetted through Mrs. Peck personally before publication. Only quotes she deems appropriate will be published. If your quote is inappropriate, you will not have a second chance to submit one; so, think carefully before you submit.



Only students who have had their senior portraits taken with Smilestone will have a quote published. No picture = no quote.

Try Paper

Paper is a free tutoring service open to all Rutherford County students. The tutors at Paper provide homework help, writing support, and ACT Prep support. They also have tutors that speak multiple languages.

The Battle of the Boro

Warrior Sports

On Friday October 27 Riverdale beat Oakland 25-24 to win the Battle of the Boro snaping Oakland’s 12 year winning streak and giving the Warriors the Region 3-6A title.
