Brenda Williams

Staff Spotlight

Mrs. Williams has spent 25+ years in education. She has worked at Riverdale for 16 of those years as a music teacher and Choir Director. She is a champion for our choir students. Under her guidance, the choir program at Riverdale High School has flourished, with students winning numerous awards and accolades. Mrs. Williams's dedication and passion for music have inspired generations of students to discover their voices and express themselves through song. Her nurturing and supportive approach creates a warm and welcoming environment where students feel encouraged to explore their talents and reach their full potential. Mrs. Williams's impact extends far beyond the choir room, as she instills in her students a love for music that lasts a lifetime. Riverdale High School is truly fortunate to have such a talented and caring Choir Director in Mrs. Williams. Unfortunately for RHS, Mrs. Williams will be retiring at the end of the school year. She will be greatly missed.

Deepfakes and Democracy

Every day, we see -- and create! -- countless images and videos that have been edited or digitally altered. From simple Snapchat filters to short, lighthearted, or ironic TikTok videos, it’s clear that seeing and creating altered media is just part of online life today. But are your students aware of -- or have they thought deeply about -- the phenomenon of deepfake videos? As you watch, have your students consider questions like: Why are faked images and videos so popular? How might AI or deepfake technology subvert or threaten a democratic election? And perhaps more universally, How does the existence of this new technology change the way we see the world?
